Hebrews 3:13

Family Camp Lasagna

Ok, so while at family camp just a week ago we were served this "Lazy Day Lasagna", my family ate several helpings, they LOVED it... so I begged for the recipe!  I made it last night for the family and they again wiped their plates clean!

You try it for your family and let me know what you think!

1 1/2 pound ground beef
1 14.5oz can tomatoes undrained
1 6oz can tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons basil
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup water
2 cups cottage cheese
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 egg
1 tablespoon parsley
8 uncooked lasagna noodles
2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded

Brown meat and drain.  Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, herbs, seasoning and water.  Cook for 8 minutes.  Combine cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg and parsley-mix well.  Pour some sauce mix into baking dish or pan.  Place 4 uncooked noodles on top.  Top with some of the cheese mix. Sprinkle some mozzarella over.  Spoon some sauce over cheese and add 4 more noodles.  Add remaining cheeses and sauce.  Cover with foil and bake about 35 minutes at 375 degrees- 40-45 minutes in the mountains (Family Camp).  Sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on top.  Cook 5 minutes more uncovered.

Sky Ranch Family Camp ~ Ute Trail, CO

Sky Ranch Family Camp is a vacation with lasting investment that our family just returned from.
It was about making memories, bonding together, sharing with one another, listening to each other, growing as a family, deepening our faith, and making a foundation together as a “Miller” that will withhold the storms together and celebrate the victories with each other!
We learned about running the race of life and passing the baton on to the next generation and to FINISH WELL...we want to be known of the Millers that they

...have fought the good fight, have finished the race, have kept the faith...
in this “AmazinGRace”!
2 Timothy 4:7

Western night was a huge hit... we laughed, sang, and danced the night away!

All the activities during the day were a BLAST!  Ropes Course, Zip Line, Kayaking, Horse back Riding..and ohh so much more!

Callie, our family counselor was the best!  She connected with us and became a sister to the girls and a mentor and encourager to Meigs and I!
Callie, thank you for spending a week of your life investing in us!

This week away from the day to day distractions of cell phones, internet, computers and such was just what our family needed.
We loved that we sat together for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 6 days in a row and had fabulous conversations that we will never forget!

I promise this is a week is one that you want to be apart of and get the blessing of making memories with your family with!

“I’m Glad I Still Like My Husband!”

Memorial Day always kicks off the summer season with such grandeur, doesn’t it? Cookouts, pool time, lake festivities and family gatherings. Nothing like a good ‘ole barbeque to get the sweat glands working! This year was a little different for Brad and I. For the past 21 years, we had been celebrating this wonderful holiday weekend with our daughters and other family members. This year, however, was a little different. Our oldest daughter is living the dream in sunny California and our 16 year old daughter was in Van, TX training to be a day camp counselor for Sky Ranch Camps. So…it was just Brad and me, all alone, with the dogs. Don’t get me wrong, we had a great time. We swam, with the dogs. We cooked out, with the dogs. We chilled, with the dogs. I love the dogs, but they don’t communicate like teenage girls. It was a little quiet around our house and that was okay. Brad communicates enough for the both of us. (If you know Brad you are nodding your head right about now.) I couldn’t help but think it was a little bit of a flash forward into our future. Not too very long from now it WILL be just me and Brad hanging out, laughing together, talkin’, walkin’, chillin’. I’m so glad I still really like him. I’ve always loved him, but I’m glad I still like him.
Marriage is hard through “those years” of raising children. The schedules are grueling and the kids are demanding. Life is tough. It’s easy to lose sight of God’s clear design for the family. But we have to remember that our husbands are to be our primary relationship under our relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s okay for us to dote on our husbands when the kids are watching. It’s good for them to see a juicy kiss every now and again! When my girls were younger we would give Brad a standing ovation when he would walk through the door after a hard day of work. He loved it and they thought it was fun. Now, it’s mostly just me and the dogs excited to see him. Bless him.
Keeping your marriage alive, fresh and first is a challenge but it is worth it. Before you know it, your kiddos will be living their own lives and it will be just the two of you again.

Holiness vs. Happiness

We had a GREAT SkyMoms Gathering earlier this week at Natalie’s house! Our subject was “Stop the Drama, Mama!” and that discussion always lends itself to fun, energetic and emotional (go figure) dialogue. As always, the moms were chatty and figuring things out. One mom who came after seeing the gathering posted on the Facebook page, shared something I can’t quite get out of my heart and head. She said, “Why are moms so concerned about their children’s happiness? I want to think that I am more concerned with their holiness than their happiness.” Wow! I had to think about that one for a bit. So good. We should be more concerned about our children’s holiness than their happiness, shouldn’t we? 1 Peter 1:16 says, “because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” God doesn’t command our happiness, but our holiness.
We don’t want our kids to suffer, be left out, hurt, be alone, feel sad, and the list goes on. Yet Jesus felt all these things and He was God. His command for holiness is a lofty one. We don’t achieve it most days, but still it should be the goal. EVERYTHING happy in the world is fleeting. It’s temporal. The only true joy, comfort and peace comes from knowing Jesus as Lord.
God bless you as you teach your children the ways of the Lord. It will be time redeemed. If you are wanting to host a SkyMoms Gathering in your home, let us know! We would LOVE to come in and have fun mom talk, and share what Sky Ranch Christian Camps is doing to enhance Christian growth in families all over our area.
