This week we are in the  7th  Topic and  34th  Family Time (or page  66) of the Sky Ranch Family Devotional “Follow the Leader”…

Family Time 34:
Topic 7: Believe in Jesus…Believe Jesus and be saved by faith
Talk with God: Read… Scriptures and questions below.
John 5:46  (Jesus is speaking)  46  "For if you believed Moses, you would  believe  Me; for he wrote of Me.  47  But if you do not  believe his writings, how will you  believe  My words?"
  • In John 5:46, What does Jesus want you to believe?

John 17:20  (Jesus is praying)  "I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me  through their word;  21  that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that You did send Me.”
  • In John 17:20-21, what does Jesus want you to believe?

John 6:29   Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”
  • In John 6:29, what is your work?

Ephesians 2:8  (This is about faith in Jesus)  For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, [it is] the gift of God;  9  not as a result of works, that no one should boast…
  • In Eph 2:8, can works save you?

Walk with God: Discuss…  Jesus says to believe His Words, believe that He was sent by God, and believe in Him. When you believe Jesus, what is the result?

Prayer suggestion…  Pray for God’s help with understanding Jesus’ teachings.

Family Time 34:
Leader Answers:
  • Believe Jesus and His Words
  • Believe in Him and that God sent Him
  • To believe in Jesus whom God sent
  • No
  • Discussion ideas: Believing what Jesus said means believing in Him leads to abundant life and eternal life. Believing Jesus results in salvation from sin and death. Believing in Jesus results in a changed lifestyle because of the indwelling Holy Spirit. And notice all of this is a gift so that you can’t boast and claim that you earned it by “works.” How is the work of believing Jesus different from “works?”

This week we are in the 7th  Topic and 33rd  Family Time (or page 65 ) of the Sky Ranch Family Devotional “Follow the Leader”…

Family Time 33:
Topic 7: Believe in Jesus…Belief in the Gospel and the evidence
Talk with God: Read… Scriptures and questions below.
Mark 1:14  …Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,  15  and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and  believe  in the gospel."
  • In Mark 1:15, what are you to believe?

1 Corinthians 15:1  Now I make known to you, brethren, the  gospel  which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,  2  by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.  3  For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,  4  and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,  5  and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.  6  After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time….
  • In 1 Cor. 15:1-6, what is the gospel?

1 John 3:23  (about God, the Father)  And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
  • In 1 John 3:23, what is God’s command to you and me?

Walk with God: Discuss… We are to believe in the gospel. We are to believe in Jesus and that is who the gospel is about. But do you really understand what “the gospel” is? Do you really understand what the biblical word “believe” means?

Prayer suggestion…  Ask God to help you understand what to believe.

Family Time 33:
Leader Answers:
  • The gospel
  • Verses 3-6 – Christ died for our sins was buried and raised (all according to the scriptures), and appeared to more than 500 people at one time and others
  • Believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ
  • Discussion ideas: Believing the gospel means believing that Jesus who is God in the flesh died on the cross for our sins according to the scriptures. He was buried, raised and appeared to many people. Belief is the same as faith. Belief means that you have accepted this idea, been convicted by it, and it causes you to change your lifestyle based on that belief. Action is the evidence of your belief. Is there evidence of your belief? How?

This week we are in the 6th  Topic and 31st  Family Time (or page 60 ) of the Sky Ranch Family Devotional “Follow the Leader”…
Family Time 31:
Topic 6: Jesus helps and counsels you…Jesus’ eternal help – trust it
Talk with God: Read…Scriptures and questions below.
Romans 8:11  But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.
  • In Romans 8:11, what does His Spirit give to your mortal bodies?

John 6:40  (Jesus is speaking) "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have  eternal  life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
  • In John 6:40, what kind of life is Jesus promising?

Ephesians 2:4   But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,  5  even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),  6  and  raised  us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly [places], in Christ  Jesus,  7  in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ  Jesus.
  • In Ephesians 2:5-6, God is going to raise you with who and seat you where?

Walk with God: Discuss… The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. He dwells in you. What does God’s Holy Spirit help you do eternally?

Prayer suggestion…  Pray that you will believe Jesus and have eternal life.

Family Time 31:
Leader Answers:
  • Life
  • Eternal life and resurrection
  • Raise you with Jesus and seat you in heavenly places
  • Discussion ideas: True belief in Jesus will cause you to live eternally with Him. You and I are eternal; it is just a matter of where you are going to live out your eternity.  God tells us in Revelation 20:4-15 that those who believe Jesus are in the book of life and will be raised in the first resurrection. And that same group will be saved from the eternal fire. Where do you want to live out eternity?

This week we are in the  6th  Topic and  30th  Family Time (or page  59) of the Sky Ranch Family Devotional “Follow the Leader”…
Family Time 30:
Topic 6: Jesus helps and counsels you…Jesus’ earthly help – it is real
Talk with God: Read…Scriptures and questions below.
Ezekiel 36:27   "And I will put My Spirit within you and cause  you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances”
  • In Ezekiel 36:27, what does God’s Spirit within you cause you to do?

Romans 8:26   And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for [us] with groanings too deep for words;
  • In Romans 8:26, how does the Spirit help you?

John 14:26   "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”
  • In John 14:26, what does the helper do?

Luke 12:12  (Jesus is speaking)  “for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say. "
  • In Luke 12:12, what does the Spirit teach?

Walk with God: Discuss… The Holy Spirit gives you special help to live your life. We always have a choice of whether or not to listen to Him. What does God’s Holy Spirit help you do on earth?

Prayer suggestion…  Pray for God’s wisdom in the ways that you need help.

Family Time 30:
Leader Answers:
  • Walk in and observe God’s statutes and ordinances (God’s Word)
  • Helps our weaknesses by praying and interceding
  • Teaches us in all things, reminds us what Jesus said
  • Things to say
Discussion ideas: True belief in Jesus causes immediate help as you live out your lives on this earth. The Holy Spirit helps you behave by causing you to desire to live life God’s way. He also helps you in weakness, praying, teaching all things, remembering, and speaking. However, you always have a choice of whether or not to obey God’s Spirit, but if you are truly His child, you won’t go your own way long. Do you know of times when God’s Spirit has helped you in your life?
