"And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever." 1 Chronicles 28:9 (NLT)

My father passed away this morning, and I remember reading this verse a few days ago. I am reminded that our parents, ancestors, families play such a vital role in teaching us truth and the ways of the Lord. I am thankful for parents who taught me about Jesus as a child. They led me to Him and I found Him. David taught his precious son Solomon the ways of the Lord and knew that God would continue to do His work in his son. What a comfort that must have been to David in his latter days. I know my dad was at peace knowing his children knew Jesus and would reunite with him in glory one day.
So SkyMoms, God's word is like an ointment for our soul. We can know the peace of God and His ways as we read His word and meditate on it. As we teach our children, we can trust that God will show Himself and make Himself known. That is an incredible generational blessing.
Oh Lisa, my heart is heavy for you. Will be praying for you during this time. What a joy to know your Dad is in Heaven with his Heavenly Father. Hugs!!
