Counting our Blessings!
As is required of all Clark children, our 16 year old daughter has a summer job. She loves it, but has some battle scars to prove she is earning her paycheck. She got kicked in the back a few days ago (showed me the bruise), her allergies are going crazy being outside all day, everyday, and because she is getting up early and leaving in a hurry, the dog ate her retainer because she didn’t close her door. Needless to say, I have been hearing the moans and groans of her poor life lately. In the midst of her whining, I just stopped the conversation immediately and said, “Let’s play the “I’m Blessed!” game, shall we?” I continued, “For every negative, “poor pitiful me” complaint you launch, please follow that with what has blessed you lately.” She quickly got the picture and we laughed about it, but sometimes we tend to go negative real fast. That’s natural…but we are to be changed as believers in Jesus Christ. Our natural man is to be transformed by the Holy Spirit. Moms, it really is our pleasure to re-direct our children when we see them going “natural.” If we don’t, who will?
