Confession: A Beautiful Thing
If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:19
This past month, we have been asking the Lord to show us great and mighty
things that we could not figure out on our own.
We have asked the Lord to deal with “not my child…no way”
attitudes in our hearts and be on the lookout and watch tower
of God’s Word and faithfulness to guide us where we
come up empty in regards to what is going on in the little worlds,
hearts, minds, and social circles our children move and live in.
Heavy stuff…sort of, but releasing and comforting…most definitely!
Have you been able to take “you” out of the equation and ask
God to shine light on things that have left you
frustrated and fretful. I hope so. I know personally that I
have experienced tremendous peace when I have laid it to rest in His
Heavenly arms of protection and provision for answers.
For some of us, this might have meant uncovering sin patterns or struggles
that we had no idea our children were tied up in.
I talked to a mom the other day who had gained so much peace and revelation
as she asked the Lord to show her an area where her child was struggling.
What came out of it…confession, an opportunity for her child to stand up
and demonstrate integrity, it brought reconciliation of a friendship,
it caused like-minded parents to unite and praise and glorify God.
Confession brought beautiful things.
It’s aftermath…peace, wholeness, sweet sleep, and hearts of trusting God
over carrying bitterness and revenge toward friends.
So, if during this month of praying for God’s divine revelation
regarding things we could not figure out, brought to light
sin in your children….rejoice and lead them through confession.
Let’s Pray:
Your Word tells us to confess. I cannot teach my children about
confession if I am not obedient to it. Please shine light on
unconfessed sin in my own life. Where I need to confess and say
“sorry…I didn’t handle this or that so well”…give me courage.
Help us to teach our children that You are faithful and they should not fear
us as parents or anyone else. Help them to know that You
are just and that You will lead us as parents to
deliver consequences where they need to be given and minister
grace where it needs to be given.
Not only do we get forgiveness of sins but we
also get to experience purification from the unrighteousness
that disobedience caused.
How beautiful is purification because it brings hope, love,
joy, restoration, sleep, trust, and redemption.
Father, please help us as Skymoms to continually be on the lookout
this year for where the enemy would like to steal, kill, and destroy.
Deliver us from fear and give us faith instead, to trust these sweet
precious children to a loving Father.
Confess, and be purified!
It’s available and free…we just need to ask.
