Prayer Encouragement: "How are my children being deceived?" by SkyMom, Terrie Chevaillier

How are my children being deceived?
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
Genesis 3: 1
This verse tells us that Satan tried to deceive Eve by speaking something to her that was contrary to God’s Word and what He had said.
God said in Genesis 2:16-17… You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Notice:
God said, “you are free to eat from any tree in the garden..but not the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Satan said, “did God really say, ‘You must not eat form any tree in the garden’?”
Did you catch the craftiness?
Notice that what God said spoke of abundance and freedom.  Lots of fruit from lots of trees were available and approved.  Only one was not approved.
Satan’s statement to Eve was clever and crafty:
He took God’s Word and twisted it.
He laced his statement with doubt about God’s Word.
His statement spoke of no freedom, but of lack and prohibition.
And guess what….Satan still attempts to try to get our focus off of what we do have and on to what we do not have.  He is still using the same tactics on us and on our children today just as he did with the first man and the first woman in the garden.
So, as mom’s we want to guide and shepard our children in the truth.
The world often bombards their minds with what they need or don’t have and why they need to have it now!
In their world, they are tempted to get their eyes off of all the goodness God has given them and has planned for them in their future and on to what they need today…which is often very contrary to what God’s best would be for them.
How do we teach them so they are not deceived?
We help them learn and grow in God’s Word so that as they are in the world and then later out of our homes and on their own, they will know truth and be able to discern subtle contradictions to God’s Word…..they will know imposters.
We pray for them daily and teach them how to pray God’s Word and what it means to have an intimate relationship with Him.
We help them learn how God speaks to us.  He speaks Words of hope, love, peace and abundance in those things that are of Him.
The enemy speaks words of lack, despair, doubt and hopelessness.

Let’s Pray God’s Word:
Dear Father, thank You that you are a heavenly Father who loves us and our children.
Thank you that You desire an intimate relationship with us and with our children.
You know every place that my child is being tempted right now or deceived.
Help me to teach them Your Word.
Your Word teaches us that the enemy is crafty.
Where is he taking Your Word and twisting it in the mind of my child?
Reveal to me where they are hearing truth that is distorted by a worldview that desires to give them an imposter….something similar in wording or appearance to Godly living, but completely false and wrong and opposed to the Your Word.
Thank You that they are growing in wisdom and being sanctified daily.
I ask that You would help us to be homes that focus on Your abundance and  goodness as opposed to any lack that we think we might have.
And Father, if we are experiencing lack in some area, I pray that we would daily surrender these areas to You in prayer and be left with a heart that is full and thankful as we wait expectantly and keep our eyes focused on You.
Amen.
