Talk with God: Read scriptures and questions below.
Proverb 3:5-6 (NASB): “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Psalm 119: 105 (NASB): “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:11 (NIV): “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
Walk with God:
Discuss with younger kids: Reading God’s Word, the Holy Bible, is the best way to get to know God. It can take time to get to know Him, but spend time in His Word and learn what He thinks. Your relationship with Him will grow in trust. It can be easy to put aside a little time each day to read something He has to say, just set a time and keep it. What would be the best time and way for you to commit to spend time getting to know God better?
Discuss with older kids: Can you imagine being friends with someone who talks non-stop and never listens to you at all? What if the person had no idea of your interests, but you knew all about his or her favorite activities? Is that a real friendship or a one-sided friendship? When you pray and rattle off your list of wants to God, but don’t take the time to read His message, then you are being a one-sided friend to God. Friendship is about give and take. What could you do to improve your relationship with God?
Prayer suggestion: Pray for God to show you His heart in His Word.
