Cowboys and Cowboys 2011...an amazing evening!

Words cannot even remotely begin to communicate the overwhelming gratitude that is in our hearts for your amazing contributions towards making the event a success.  Every detail was covered and each person took care of their role with great pride and integrity towards Sky Ranch.  The music was fabulous!  The decor' and presentation was top notch!  The video, "The Ripple Affect" touched each heart in the room!  I could go on and on about about each person utilizing their gifts and talents and contributing to the success of the evening!
The ultimate goal was reached...to receive scholarship dollars to allow for more kids to come to camp so that they WILL learn the love of Christ this summer!
Praise the Lord!

Lisa Life Lesson ~"Top 10 Teen “To-Do’s!"

Top 10 Teen “To-Do’s!”

1.  Text them to tell them you’ve prayed for them today! (Pray first!) Also, text them a scripture you’ve prayed over them…just the reference…then they can look it up later!
2.  Write a message of encouragement or a scripture on their bathroom mirror in lipstick…for boys, frame a colorful message/scripture every other week…they’ll look forward to new messages…I promise! (Even if they never mention it!)
3.  When disciplining, look your children eyeball to eyeball! This might be uncomfortable at first, but they will read the love intended through the discipline if they can see your full face.
4.  Celebrate Re-Birthdays! Each year, have a small cake or cupcake and celebrate the number of years they are In Christ! Don’t remember the exact date they accepted Christ? Then celebrate the month or a baptism date…This is a good time to reflect on what God is doing in his/her life and measure growth that has taken place over the year.
5.  Don’t like their taste in music? While in the car, play your kind of music, real loud. It’s your car, right? (I love to blast Carol King’s Tapestry CD on a sunny day. I’m real cool like that!)
6.  Want to make your child feel valued and special??? Get off the cell phone!!! Seriously, when the kids are in the car…talk to them, not the phone!
7.  Boy not talkin’ much, especially when you pick him up from school? Turn off the radio…overstimulation causes kids to shut down verbally…also, bring a water bottle for the ride home. Kids can dehydrate during the day with all work and no H2O!
8.  Pray for your children, let them know you are praying and ask them how you can pray for them! Remind them that nothing is too big or too small for God. (If you’re not praying for your kids…who is?)
9.  Be real…when you make a mistake, admit it, when you are right, don’t gloat. Our kids see a lot of fake (ie. Television, magazines, billboards). If we keep it real at home, they know they can trust us and will be able to relate to us.
10.  “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”   ~1 Cor 11:1~

Strawberry Tiramisu Recipe

I just received this recipe from one of my other friend bloggers.....and I could not resist putting it on here
I love how we can share all this stuff in the internet world...

" The strawberries look so delicious right now so this is a perfect month to try this. If you are like me and aren’t just in love with the taste of coffee, elimanate the espresso and use the same amount of milk and just substitute 2 teas almond extract in place of the liquer. You will then have an almond-flavored tiramisu with the strawberries.
Ingredients
1 pint fresh strawberries
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 cup mascarpone cheese
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons coffee-flavored liqueur
18 ladyfingers
1/3 cup chilled espresso
1/2 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions
1.Cut off the tops of the strawberries and slice the berries. Reserve 2 large whole berries for garnish.
2.In a blender, place 2 cups of strawberries and 2 tablespoons confectioners sugar; blend to puree and set aside.
3.In a medium bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, 1/4 cup cream, 1/4 cup sugar, and liqueur; beat with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes until thickened.
4.Place 6 ladyfingers on a serving plate and brush each with approximately 1 teaspoon cold espresso coffee. Spread or pipe out 1/2 of the cheese mixture over the ladyfingers, and layer with half of the sliced strawberries.
5.Repeat with the next 6 ladyfingers, espresso, remaining cheese mixture, and sliced strawberries; top with remaining 6 ladyfingers.
6.In a small mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup heavy cream with 2 tablespoons sugar; beat with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until just whipped, approximately 1 minute. Spread cream evenly over top layer of ladyfingers.
7.Dust cocoa over whipped cream, and garnish with 2 reserved strawberries. Pour strawberry puree onto two serving plates. Cut tiramisu in half, and place onto puree."

Happy Valentines Day!

1 Corinthians 13 NIV

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Lisa Life Lesson ~"Passwords, please?"

Passwords, please?

Moms, do you know your children's passwords? To their email, facebook, twitter, iphone?

We all need boundaries and protection.  Because they are still young, immature and inexperienced, we place boundaries in our children's lives for protection and accountability.  Knowing their passwords helps us parent them by assuring them that we are their partners and extra pair of eyes in this ever-changing world of technology.  And reminding them that while you trust them, you do not trust others trying to exploit or violate them.

Keep an updated file of passwords for your children.  Remind them that the equipment is yours.  If they change a password they need to update the file.  If they don't, they lose the privilege of operating your equipment.

"A wise son heeds his father's instruction..." Proverbs 13:1
