This week in your family time, I would encourage you to prepare by praying for your family and asking God to help your discussion on the Holy Spirit. This week we are in the  6th  Topic and  29th  Family Time (or page  58) of the Sky Ranch Family Devotional “Follow the Leader”…

Family Time 29:
Topic 6: Jesus helps and counsels you…Jesus gives help, but who receives it?
Talk with God: Read…Scriptures and questions below.
Hebrews 2:16  (about Jesus) For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham.
  • In Hebrews 2:16, who receives help?

Galatians 3:13  Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law,…14  in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through  faith .
  • In Galatians 3:14, Christ redeemed you so you could receive what by faith?

Romans 8:27  …and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to [the will of] God.
  • In Romans 8:27, who does the Spirit intercede for?

Romans 8:14  For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
  • In Romans 8:14, who is led by the Spirit of God?

Walk with God: Discuss… Jesus came to help you. Your faith in Jesus gives you the promise of the Holy Spirit.  Can just anyone receive the Holy Spirit’s help?

Prayer suggestion…  Ask God to show you the benefit of help from His Spirit.

Family Time 29:
Leader Answers:
  • The descendants of Abraham
  • The promise of the Spirit
  • The Saints
  • Sons of God
  • Discussion ideas: Descendants of Abraham who are Christ’s redeemed, the saints, or sons of God, are who receive the Spirit of God’s help. It is those who believe and follow Jesus. Galatians 3:22 tells us …that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. Have you believed and received His Spirit to help you?

Teach Intentionally..."Family Time…Jesus sends the Helper", with Stacy A. Davis ~ Bible Teacher and Sky Ranch Board Member

Family Time…Jesus sends the Helper

This month’s family time topic from the “Sky Ranch Family Devotional: Follow the Leader” is on “Jesus helps and counsels you“ and the weekly discussion is on “Jesus sends the Helper and the benefits of extra help.“

This week in your family time, I would encourage you to prepare by praying for your family and asking  God to help you explain “the Helper,” the Holy Spirit. At the time of belief, God sends you His Holy Spirit who will help call God’s Word to mind and teach you through His scripture.  Pray for your family to see how much God loves them by sending them a Helper.

Do you have questions or need prayer for your family? Email me at SkyMoms@skyranch.org.
I will be praying for you!

This week we are in the  6th  Topic and 28th  Family Time (or page  57) of the Sky Ranch Family Devotional “Follow the Leader”…

Family Time 28:
Topic 6: Jesus helps and counsels you…Jesus sends the Helper and benefits of extra help
Talk with God: Read…Scriptures and questions below.
Isaiah 9:6  For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
  • In Isaiah 9:6, who is called the Wonderful Counselor?

John 16:7  (Jesus is speaking)  "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the  Helper  shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.”
  • In John 16:7, who will come to you if Jesus leaves?

John 14:26  (Jesus is speaking) "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name…”
  • In John 14:26, who is the Helper?

John 15:26  "When the  Helper  comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, [that is] the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of Me…”
  • In John 15:26, who is the helper?
  • In John 15:26, where does He come from?

Walk with God: Discuss… Isaiah says God’s Son would be called a Wonderful Counselor. Then, when Jesus is here, He tells us that He will send you and me “the Helper.” We know the Holy Spirit is the Helper…but who is He? Is He the way that Jesus counsels you?

Prayer suggestion…  Ask God to help you understand the Holy Spirit.
Family Time 28:
Leader Answers:
  • The Child, the Son
  • The Helper
  • The Holy Spirit
  • The Spirit of Truth
  • The Father
  • Discussion ideas: The Holy Spirit is both the Spirit of God in Ephesians 4:30 and the Spirit of the Lord in Isaiah 11:2. We are told that He rests on people and gives wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge and fear of the Lord. God’s Spirit searches the minds and hearts and knows our thoughts and intentions and all things (1 Corinthians 2:10). How can you benefit from receiving this extra help from the Holy Spirit?

Lisa Life Lesson- "Just call me Mom, or Holy Spirit, or whatever…'

Just call me Mom, or Holy Spirit, or whatever…

So it’s like this, certainly God is busy convicting all 7 BILLION of us on the planet that at times He needs little ol’ mom to do some convictin’ up in here…right?

I have good convictional skills.  I know just how to get my point across so the rest of the family is miserable and guilty and miserable.  Then I go sit in my holiness and gloat.  It’s the best feeling in the world.  Not.

Here’s the problem with Mom being Holy Spirit and trying to convict her family of their sin.  Mom is a sinner, too.  Mom needs to get the plank out of her own eye.  Mom is not the standard for holiness.  Mom just sees what she sees and that is an external manifestation of the heart.  God sees the heart.  He knows how to change the heart and not just actions to look good.  Mom is more concerned about the outside, God the inside.  Moms motives are right, wanting to help her family make right choices, but when we cast our own convictions onto our family members, without them being convicted in their spirit, we end up being The Judgmentalist.  (You’ve seen that TV Series, right?) That’s not who I want to be.

I want to be a mom who forgives, sets an example, offers the same grace she’s been given and prays for her family.

I’m not talking about obedience issues here.  I’m talking about those things that take conviction.  They’re different for all of us.  To see the movie or not see the movie.  To wear this or not wear this.  To say it or not say it.  To go there or …

Convictions are a result of a desire to live a godly life.  My convictions change as I grow.  Your convictions might be different than your husbands.  His might be different than yours.  We are all at different places in the journey towards righteousness but we are all on the journey.  Never accept complacency in your own journey.  Keep growing and shining and revealing the character of Christ in your own life.  When you are tempted to convict, pray.  Give it to God and He will make Himself known at His perfect time.

Blessings,
Lisa

Teach Intentionally..."Family Time…Receiving Jesus’ peace", with Stacy A. Davis ~ Bible Teacher and Sky Ranch Board Member

Family Time…Receiving Jesus’ peace

This month’s family time topic from the “Sky Ranch Family Devotional: Follow the Leader” is on “Jesus brings you love and peace“ and the weekly discussion is on “Jesus’ peace and receiving Jesus’ peace.“

This week in your family time, I would encourage you to prepare by praying for your family and asking God to help you lead anyone who is not a peace with God into a personal relationship with Jesus. If there are questions about whether or someone in your family really trusts in Jesus, ask them, do you believe that you are saved? And if you were to die today, would you go to heaven? If there answer is no or I don’t know but they want to be saved, then lead them to a personal relationship with Jesus by praying the prayer in the leader answers.

Do you have questions or need prayer for your family? Email me at SkyMoms@skyranch.org.
I will be praying for you!

This week we are in the  5th  Topic and 27th  Family Time (or page  52) of the Sky Ranch Family Devotional “Follow the Leader”…

Family Time 27:
Topic 5: Jesus brings you love and peace…Jesus’ peace and receiving Jesus’ peace
Talk with God: Read… Scriptures and questions below.
Colossians 3:15  And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
  • In Col. 3:15, what is to rule in your heart?

Romans 14:17  for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
  • In Rom. 14:17, what is God’s Kingdom about?

Galatians 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,  peace , patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  23  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
  • In Gal. 5:22, are love and peace two of the results of God’s Spirit?

2 Corinthians 13:11  Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in  peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
  • In 2 Cor. 13:11, among other things…live in peace and who will be with you?

Walk with God: Discuss… These passages show that God’s peace is not something that you are born with nor is it something you can create. This peace comes from God and it is a result of God’s Holy Spirit…do you want this type of peace?  How do you receive this type of peace?

Prayer suggestion…  Pray for God to help you live life in peace.

Family Time 27:
Leader Answers:
  • The peace of Christ
  • Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit
  • Yes
  • The God of love and peace
  • Discussion ideas: If you want this type of peace then pray the prayer of salvation.  Pray confessing your sin and admitting your need of salvation from sin and death. Commit to the decision to stop intentionally or habitually sinning and recognize that you need God’s help from His Holy Spirit to stop sinning. Accept the Lord Jesus Christ’s free gift of salvation for you.  Pray asking for God’s peace, confessing that you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and want Him to be Lord of your life and desiring His indwelling Holy Spirit to help and guide you. Now, have faith and act on your belief in Jesus. Tell others about your experience, too.  You are to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and Lord of your life. Welcome to the family of God! What can you tell God about His indescribable gift to you?

This week we are in the 5th  Topic and 26th  Family Time (or page 51 ) of the Sky Ranch Family Devotional “Follow the Leader”…
Family Time 26:
Topic 5: Jesus brings you love and peace…Peace with God and peace within
Talk with God: Read… Scriptures and questions below.
Colossians 1:20  … and through Him (Jesus) to reconcile all things to Himself (God), having made peace through the blood of His cross; …
  • In Col. 1:20, Jesus’ blood on the cross made peace with Whom?

Romans 5:10  (In reference to Jesus) For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
  • In Rom. 5:10, what resulted in the death of Jesus?

Romans 5:1 Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
  • In Rom. 5:1, our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ justifies us and brings what result?

Romans 5:11  And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
  • In Rom. 5:11, since we are reconciled to God, how do we respond?
Walk with God: Discuss… Sin causes you to be enemies with God. But belief in the Lord Jesus Christ justifies and reconciles you with God. What is the result of Jesus’ peace?
Prayer suggestion…  Pray for God to grant you peace.
Family Time 26:
Leader Answers:
  • God
  • We were reconciled to God
  • Peace with God
  • Exult (praise and celebrate) in God
  • Discussion ideas: The result is a right relationship with God, in this right relationship, you will have peace within yourselves and peace with God. You will finally be on the same team with God. God will place His indwelling Holy Spirit within you and give you peace through Him and a desire to live godly. We have all had times of fighting and peace with others.  Which did you like better… fighting or peace?  Have you ever been fighting with someone and then made peace… what was the result in the relationship?
