SuperMom Snydrome

We finished our SkyMoms Luncheons last week and what a year we had! Lots of luncheons and almost 600 moms attending this year.  Our theme this year was The SuperMom Syndrome.  Here's a picture of moms in Rockwall preparing to take the pledge...

I am NOT SUPERMOM.
I am a SUPER MOM but I am not SUPERMOM.
I don’t even like the SUPERMOMS I know.
I know God created me for a relationship with Himself and I will find my identity in who I am in Christ, not who the world says I should be.
I can’t do it all.  And I don’t really want to do it all.
Lord, help me to pray, plan, prepare and pull over.
Because SUPERMOM is a myth.  And I’m the MYTHBUSTER

If you're interested in attending a SkyMoms Luncheon during the 2015-16 school year, watch the blog or facebook page.  We'll list the events in August! Stay tuned. We want to see you there!!!

Community Sharing Wisdom - Better Together Devotional by Stacy A. Davis

Family Fun Icebreaker: Who is a wise person that helped you? How?

Topic Question: How are we Better Together?

Today’s Big Idea: Community Sharing Wisdom
Imagine a group of people who use their wisdom to help the world around them. Imagine yourself in the group of wise people, speaking wisdom to help other people. In Colossians 3:16, scripture tells where the wisdom comes from; wisdom is found through the Word of Christ from the Holy Bible. You will become wiser when you spend time learning God’s Word. God makes you wise through His divine direction, and wants a wise community that encourages one another to learn from Him. He also wants this wise community to guide others to Jesus. In your family times, you are learning God’s Word and reading the Bible. God wants parents to teach their children at home. He also wants your family to meet with other Christian families so that you can share God’s Word with each other as the community of the church. Then, in unity, you can go out into the world, sharing God’s wisdom with others.

Imitate Christ - Lisa Clark

"Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ." 1 Cor 11:1

This was a constant on my mind as I was raising my girls. Always wanting to lead them to Christ but falling short daily.

Paul wrote this scripture in confidence that Christ was living inside him so he could represent Him and lead people to Him. Just imitate me he said. Just imitate me.

Well I was overwhelmed when I read this scripture from a parenting perspective. Truly overwhelmed. Could I simply tell my girls to imitate me and they'd see Jesus? Was I that confident?

Breathe. And know that the power of the One True God lives in you, believer. Trust Him. Know Him. Believe Him. Rely on Him.

How is this possible? Sit at His feet daily. Spend time talking with Him. Meditate on His word. Worship Him. Serve. Be intentional.

Mom, your mission field is your home. Imitate Christ.

"Yet you cannot make disciples unless you are my disciple." Oswald Chambers

Community that Cares - Better Together Devotional by Stacy A. Davis

Family Fun Icebreaker: Do you consider yourself servant-hearted? How?

Topic Question: How are we Better Together?

Today’s Big Idea: Community that Cares
God wants His community to help other people have the chance to heal, just as they did, so there is a willingness to share the good news of Jesus. God desires a selfless community of people; He wants a community of servant-hearted people who recognize that you are to give up your own personal needs to serve others. Imagine a world where everyone cares to serve others more than being served themselves, where everyone cares for hearts to heal. Wouldn’t that be nice? That is God’s plan! In the world today, the general desire is to be selfish and be served by others. People think by being served they will be happy. Yet God designed all people and knows the best for you. He says for your heart to be truly happy, or whole, it needs to be healed, and your relationship with Him needs to be restored. You know the truth and trust in Jesus, which is the only way to heal and restore your relationship with God. In God’s community, you will be joined with those who understand the importance of caring for others, who show true love by sharing the truth about Jesus. We care better together.

A House that Stands - Terrie Chevaillier

Is there anything in your life right now that feels like it is about to topple over.  Perhaps amidst your attempts to prop it up, tape it up, gloss it up, or shut it up?  I was reminded about this just recently. God’s Word says that anything in my house or my places of influences that is divided against itself will not stand.

We have all seen the cute yard signs or flags or Facebook posts that says, “House divided”   This phrase is usually seen when UT and OU play football in the fall or when parents have children at different colleges that are rivalries.  Cute and funny.

But not so cute and funny are the rivalries in our own homes that threaten loss.  Not a one game on a Saturday afternoon loss, but a game where both sides loose for many years. Saturday after Saturday, day after day.  Ongoing division in the home.

What might that look like?  A mom and dad divided by bitterness and unforgiveness.  Sibling jealousy.  Constant bickering over who is first and who got what.  Discontentment expressed daily in unmet needs or unhappiness with circumstances.   Vacation frustration.  Arguing over money. God’s Word tells us that if we are divided amongst ourselves in these areas, we are at risk of not standing.

Thankfully, we serve a God who is in the rebuilding business.  He loves to take things that are broken and make them new.  It’s for His glory and His good that he does that.  He is a repairer of the broken.

Would you surrender those divided places in your home to Him today?  Christ is able and willing to do all that we cannot as we surrender our entire lives and homes to Him.
